The team is in contract negotiations to extend Visnovsky. Initially, no one wants to come to play for the Islanders because the arena is outdated and there is little fan support. However, there is a very big Russian population in Brooklyn (Manhattan Beach, Brighton Beach, Coney Island) and the Isles locker room is very nice and tight knit. Moulson, Tavaras, Hamonic, Martin and the young guys are very sweet. Bunch of good guys. I know since I've met them. Tavaras closes his eyes with head down for National Anthem before the game and silently prays. Tavaras is very easy going, humble and shy. But he works out during offseason constantly to improve his game. In contrast to NFL, players on this team are very supportive of one another and look up to the older players for guidance. Nabakov has become a bit of a leader and spokesman for team. Visnovsky likes the way he has been treated. He has been given lots of respect by the younger players. That's new to him.
