Mining industry and early/risk style of capital have created a place for guys like this . Much like early mystique around communism it hides a failed system . This guy gets grants from these govts which in hindsight are failed economic states so he can promote his failed economic model on the rest of the world . Human cultures are complicated these people do not need to be exploited either by those trying to develop or by those against it .
