>> The rise in the cost of health care has been reported as slowing by every news outlet and here you are with some "who knows what" anectode that proves the opposite...it's pretty desperate.

You really get sucked in by this nonsense. It is like you read the headlines and never get to the underlying data.

Obamacare hasn't even gone into effect yet, for the most part. There have, according to Towers-Perrin, been employer cost savings, as they have begun to restructure policies to transfer costs to employees. Medicare and Medicaid have cut the hell out of provider payments, which will cause private policies to increase within a year or two. And Sebelius has, of course, claimed cost reductions which are at best, transitory.

Almost NO ONE today is covering the requirements of the 2014 rollout. And millions of new Medicaid recipients who will receive "free" (taxpayer sponsored) health care are still paying their own way. Meanwhile, private plans are killing ratepayers.

>> Anyway, they took him to the hospital and treated him...the did and MRI among other tests. A fucking MRI for food poisoning...can you just guess what a bill they ran up on him?
Did your friend bother to say, "Why the fuck do I need an MRI?" It wasn't forced on him. Personally, I take responsibility for my own treatment. Because I have to pay for it.

The entire problem with US health care cost is directly traceable to government interference which took almost all people in the country out of the loop when it comes to paying for their health care.
