[what the CEO says]

<< I'm echoing what Tom Engibous said in a recent speech. Perhaps he doesn't know what he's talking about and Kurlak does. >>

for TXN, substitute Kodak; for Engibous, George Fisher; for DSP, digital photography.

I respect both companies, both CEOs, and both technologies. Their plans have merit and the manangement has a proven track record. Even so, a new strategy doesn't remove a company from the reality of its current markets, and having a plan and executing it successfully are two very diffent things. Look how external events are hurting Kodak... their investments may bear fruit down the road, but that doesn't make stock a Buy today or even in the next two years.

Re: sarcasm... sorry. Certain comments read like a CEO groupie's. To wit:

Engibous: "He certainly has style and presence. When I saw him in San Diego, waters seemed to part as he walked across the room. Even if I hadn't seen his photo in advance, I'd have known which one he was."

Jinks: "warm, friendly, smart... a visionary, but also a pragmatist..."

Lee: "In a letter that is a model of diplomacy and business acumen, Charles R. Lee presents a thought-provoking case for the merger..."

I did put a smiley at the end of that post! Not enough smileys, I guess.
