My favorite sitcom of all time for the time being would have to be Big Bang Theory.

When I first heard of the project, I though they would bomb. I figured no one could write good comedy material for a bunch of characters who happen to be portrayed as geniuses, without it falling flat, unless they were geniuses too! Well, perhaps they are. The writing is such that I'm always left thinking that one of the writers had to have had a Sheldon for a roommate in college.

And there is the lovely and spirited actress, Kaley Cuoco. Her character, Penny, not only has smoldering sexuality, but she's an every girl with man hands and that "too midwestern" look that makes us midwesterners think of the girl next door of our mis-spent youth. From doing laundry like a 9 year old to her cluttered apartment, she's as real as it gets.

This one show has expanded my vocabulary more than all the other TV time I've spent, including that with the likes of Nova from PBS and the Discovery Channel. Big Bang Theory wholly captures the zeitgeist of the young people of this decade. From the vicissitudes of modern courtship to the fiats of the anal impulsive Sheldon, it's all just as funny as it can be. The influence of the show on my funny bone is one of Brobdingnagian proportions.
