"Can you feel my disgust yet?"

Yeah, that's one way to put it. But don't conflate all Republicans with the neocons, who are now thoroughly discredited and so far out of power they can only have wet dreams about being actual policymakers again. Yes, everyone else went along with them but so did many Democrats. Shame on them all.

We need a decent, responsible, moderate Republican party for our political system to function. At the moment, the only way to get there seems to be having the wingers burn out the existing party structure then start over with something coherent and reasonable. David Brooks said as much in his PBS commentary last night.

The best thing for Dems to do is lead by example and respond to the needs of the electorate in ways that keeps getting them elected. Eventually enough Republicans will notice and do something.

Exactly what the Dems went through from 1968-1990, when apart from Watergate, they were the unelectable party in presidential races. This is why I want Hillary to run and fill the next two terms in the White House, so the crazies get stuck so far out on the margin that they discover there is no coming back.
