What could you get on your own and what would it cost you? That is to say with a private insurance plan?

I never checked. I didn't think I could do better (given the ZERO deductions and the low co-pays) and I was not put off by the cost. I'd have to check the private market but feel the NY Bridge Plan is heavily subsidized. It's so popular, it ran out of money 9 months early. So, I believe taxpayers are paying for it. As I said, it great for me now.....but I'll reserve judgement until I go into the NY exchange in the fall and see what the full blown Obama care will cost me. It will depend on what degree of subsidy I can get which will depend on my retirement income. I should be OK until I start collecting SS but I realize now I'll be over the subsidy limit If I start collecting SS at 62. May wait until 65 or 66 now for SS. By then I should have totally liquidated my IRA. This retirement stuff really takes some planning.
