In a severe market downturn, all these distinctions become irrelevant. All the high-fliers will be taken out and shot! Heck, even bystanders (the HPs, the Wal-Marts, and the Philip Morrises of the world) will get hit by flying pieces of debris :-) Before the 73-74 bear started prowling on Wall Street, IBM (which was then the high-tech company to own) and Coke were among the high-fliers. When the bear was done, Coke was down by about 70%. But IBM wasn't spared either, and ended up losing more than 50%.

Those who refuse to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.
