The second amendment was about creating a standing militia to protect the nation.

Its the right of the people not just the militia.

Its not the right of the people to own guns and be their own standing militia. Up until the 21st century, the USSC had ruled that individual citizens do not have the right to create their own militia; that that right is left to the states and that the states will regulate gun ownership. Its only with the right wing courts of the 21st century, that new interpretations have been given to the second amendment at a time the US is considered the most violent nation in the first world and experiencing gun massacres on a regular basis.

Once again, the right is out of step with what's reasonable.
