Obama supporter indicted, admits casting multiple votes

Melowese Richardson, a 58 year old veteran Cincinnati poll worker, was indicted Monday, after allegedly casting multiple votes for Barack Obama last November. Richardson had previously admitted to casting two votes for the president, but authorities now suspect that the Obama supporter cast as many as six votes in the presidential election. She is also charged with illegal voting in 2008 and 2011.
Richardson is one of 19 people suspected of illegal voting by the Hamilton County Board of Elections in the last presidential cycle, where President Obama bettered Mitt Romney by less than 20,000 votes, according to CNN, turning Ohio and the election in his favor.
Ohio Voter Fraud Investigation
Obama made history in Hamilton County as the first Democrat to have back-to-back victories, marking only the third time the historically Republican-leaning county has voted for a Democrat.
"I'm outraged, and every voter, regardless of their political affiliation, should be outraged," said Hamilton County Board of Elections member Alex Triantafilou, who is also chairman of the county Republican Party. "It causes folks to have real doubts about the fabric of our very democratic process, and it's dangerous. It is disconcerting that someone would be so bold as to admit their conduct in such a fashion ... We fully intend to prosecute these cases."
Prosecutors in the case agree, who say that Richardson likely cast her ballots for relatives.
"This is not North Korea," Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph Deters said in a statement announcing the indictments. "Elections are a serious business and the foundation of our democracy. In the scheme of things, individual votes may not seem important, but this could not be further from the truth. Every vote is important and every voter and candidate needs to have faith in our system. The charges today should let people know that we take this seriously."
There seemed to be little remorse, however, from the accused.
"I'll fight it for Mr. Obama and for Mr. Obama's right to sit as president of the United States," Richardson vowed when initally asked about the voter fraud investigation surrounding her.
Richardson, who faces as many as twelve years in prison, is one of several known fraudulent voters, as Hamilton County continues to investigate additional cases of voter fraud.
