so if it happens only with private monies then some drivers will have it and others won't
it will happen through the auto companies with the help of investors that want to make a profit on it. it will take time to make a complete switch. new traffic laws will have to be passed. road sensors will have to placed. it will be expensive, but if they see a way to profit, they will get plenty of investors to cover the initial costs. to realize the full benefits, eventually all cars will have to be autonomous.

remember when cars first got air conditioning, some of them had it and some of them didn't. it depended on what people were willing to pay. it will be the same with autonomous technology. costs will come down and more people will embrace the technology. and over time, eventually, human drivers will be seen as just too dangerous.
