OT - Our Broken Disability Program

Golfer72- You are right to a certain extent but now there are consulting companies in business to work with the States to get State welfare recipients converted to the Federal disability program. They get paid as much as $2,300.00/welfare conversion. Even lawyers advertise on TV to get rejected disability candidates to appeal their cases. Over 75% of these cases get approved when represented by a lawyer. The lawyers get paid directly by the Feds for each case approved.

The dollars paid into this federal program are so large it makes Medicare look small. Every approved disability candidate also get "free' health care benefits. It's not really a living wage but it's almost double what Mcdonalds pays AND you get paid health benefits.

I guess I am upset since it now has migrated into a business for 3rd parties.

A person on welfare costs a state money. That same resident on disability doesn’t cost the state a cent, because the federal government covers the entire bill for people on disability. So states can save money by shifting people from welfare to disability. And the Public Consulting Group is glad to help.PCG is a private company that states pay to comb their welfare rolls and move as many people as possible onto disability.…In recent contract negotiations with Missouri, PCG asked for $2,300 per person [moved from state welfare to federal disability].
