Absolutely, and I think we're seeing capital flight from Europe, where their combined financial system is even larger than that of the US... Buckets of money being emptied from one into another, looking for a new equilibrium of risk..

Fear of European confiscation could result in substantial sums of money looking for other "safer" havens. It might even result in US corporate money repatrioting back to US shores, fearing potential confiscation in any European or undeveloped financial markets.

In fact, this confiscation play MAY be a concerted effort to flush a percentage of "dead" savings (not drawing any significant interest) out of the banks and into other assets... But they had better be careful that they don't go after money coverd by depositor insurance, or they will cause a collapse of the entire system..
