OT- "Vocational or off to college." - Most of Europe is ahead of us in this respect. The problem is that you can't tell students here that they just won't be able to cut the mustard following their chosen path.

My youngest, the Spanish high school teacher, was grading tests here on her day off today. Three Fs in one class. Two of those students are learning support where the parents have declined the help.
Why would anyone do that? It is free for them.

Holding schools/teachers accountable is all the rage. A shame there isn't a way to hold parents accountable in cases like this. The school trying and getting turned down doesn't show up in the statistics anywhere.
