I am afraid I have not done much hw yet either on gold stocks. I did take a look at the top holdings of the Tocqueville gold fund which is a start. Some co's like IAG or Newmont look very good on paper with low p/e's and some trading under book, but if they are going to have to spend a lot on new mines maybe the present cash levels are not as important. The whole sector is suffering and I don't expect any of the stocks to do great until the tide turns. A lot of co's are promising to turn over a new leaf, lots of ceos have been fired, I expect they will be more businesslike in the future which is good. Goldcorp has done a better job in the past than most but its shares have not got as cheap either. As far as I can tell the streaming co's like Silver Wheaton have the best business model. SW is one I am going to keep an eye on.

Have coal stocks started doing anything yet?

Did you read about Jim R buying N Korean coins?
