Fox host Don Imus: Jesus might have been gay

Fox Business host Don Imus on Wednesday awkwardly informed his guest, Fox News political analyst Kirsten Powers, that Jesus of Nazareth might have been gay.

Imus claimed that a 3rd-century religious text known as the “Gospel of Judas Iscariot” provided some evidence that the man Christian’s revere as the son of God was a homosexual.

“You know there’s a Gospel of Judas floating around,” Imus said. “There were hundreds of gospels written, only four made it into the [Bible]. There was the Gospel of Thomas, Mary had a gospel, they all had a gospel. But Judas — there’s some indication there that Jesus may have been gay.”

“Oh, come on,” Powers responded.

“I didn’t write it,’ Imus replied. “Don’t be shooting the messenger here.”

It is unclear why Imus thinks the Gospel of Judas portrayed Jesus as gay. A text known as the “Secret Gospel of Mark” described Jesus performing initiation rituals that appear to involve homosexual acts, but the document is likely a forgery created in the 20th century.
