Would you agree that when we were on the gold standard, taxes for the rich were high, we stayed out of expensive drawn out ground wars (ok Korea was short) and Wall Street cronies were tightly regulated was the best of times for mainstreet and the middle class over an extended period? 1948-66 comes to mind
