As it happens, most geological changes over the past 5000 years HAVE actually involved catastrophic changes ... the explosion of Mt St Helens, for instance. Or the sudden creation of Reelfoot Lake in TN by the New Madrid earthquake. Most of the catastrophes that changed the earth's geology over the past 5000 yrs have involved volcanos or earthquakes.

Going back a little bit further in time, the beginning and end of the last ice age involved sudden major changes in geology. The sudden creation of the scablands in Washington state following a ice dam burst, for example.

Lastly, your qualification of "miraculous or supra natural" is a red herring as catastrophes don't have to be miraculous.
