SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Herbalife said Tuesday morning KPMG has resigned as its auditor because of alleged insider trading in the company's shares by the person who headed KPMG's audits of Herbalife. KPMG told Herbalife it is withdrawing its audit opinion on Herbalife's financial statements for the years 2010, 2011 and 2012. In a statement, Herbalife said the "company's internal control over financial reporting was effective during those periods." Herbalife shares were halted before trading began Tuesday.
