Re: Iomeganiacs lurking on the Syqt thread

Like Allen, I am an Iomega bull. And, like Allen, I appreciate the comments from some of you regarding why Iomega bulls hang out here sometimes - you are right to question it.

However, I ask you to take a closer look at most of the posts here from Iomega people. 95% of them are FACTUAL, not opinion. Who knows the real reason why we take the time to post here, but you should appreciate that we do.

After all, isn't it more important to know the facts from both sides?

And, one more thing. Today's huge price jump in Syquest just brought the price back to where it was 1 week ago. So what?

Doesn't anyone here question why Syquest is spending so much time issuing so many press releases to the financial industry? Obviously, it has minimal impact on sales. IMO, it is indeed a ploy to hype the stock. Don't you wonder just a bit?

And, regarding sales, Syquest's press releases say NOTHING about sales. They are about shipments. In contrast, Iomega never talks about shipments. All announcements are sales figures.

The fact that they have shipped some units to stores doesn't mean anyone has bought them. Remember that there are an awful lot of Comp Usas out there. And Best Buys. If there are 500 of these stores combined in the states, that means that they have shipped anywhere from 10 - 30 per store. Big deal.

And, regarding the post regarding profit, 80% of retail is awfully high. Do you really think that CompUsa is paying Syquest $160 per Sparq? I would say it is closer to $100. If they are paying $80 per Zip and selling them for $129 (I know the price varies) and the Zip has proven to be a hit with consumers, why would they take lower margins on an unproven product?

Again, these are facts. I do not know how successful the Sparq will be. I hope for all of you that it will be very successful.

But, keep in mind, you're not buying Sparq. You're buying Syquest.

Anyway, thank you for your indulgence.
