>> .that's precisely the sentiment behind voter suppression.

There is a vast difference between saying, "Every person, regardless of his political awareness has a right to vote" versus efforts to drag those people to the polls BECAUSE of their ignorance. It may sound the same to you, but to me they are two entirely different things.

The idea of basing a campaign on a demographic of "ignorant" is not healthy for the country. Sure, they have the "right" to vote, but it is disgusting that a candidate would specifically target those people because of their lack of awareness.

The under-30 vote for Obama, if they understood the facts, would not have supported him. If they understood that a vote for Obama meant a lower standard of living in the future, I just don't believe they would have supported him. But they weren't told this. One can argue that it was Romney's responsibility to have told them, but because of a liberal media which was determined to reelect Obama, there was no way that message could have cut through.

I understand this. But you can't defend Obama's policy on any reasonable grounds. And you don't really even try. What I read from you is, "I'm a Democrat from the ground up, and I'm going to support the liberal point of view no matter what." I just can't put myself in those shoes, because I look at what makes sense, not what some political party thinks make sense. But it is clear to me that most Democrats are Democrats because they aren't thinking. That's not to say YOU aren't thinking -- it may be that you just want to move toward socialism and "equality", and that's a legitimate reason for being a Democrat. But trying to defend Obama policy on grounds of wanting to better America is an impossible task; it is necessary to defend it on the basis of, "I want America to be more like __________" or I want it to be something different from what it is.

I don't fee that way. I think it can be improved, but fundamentally, it is the best place in the world to live. I don't want to reduce our personal freedom or make it harder for people to succeed or make success less than it is now.
