I had lunch a few months ago with a woman who works with me. She is a very kind, hard-working woman who wears her Christianity on her sleeve (not saying it is phony in any way; simply saying that she makes her religious views known).

I don't often mention politics, or political issues to her (simply because she isn't interested), but, for some reason the topic of abortion came up, and she said, 'I don't know why so many people are accusing Obama of being pro-abortion.'

I asked, 'Why do you think that label is inaccurate?' and she replied, 'I saw him on Oprah a while back, and when she asked him why he thought people saw him that way, he responded, 'It is because I have to uphold the laws of the country, and, when some of those laws regarding abortion are seen as pro-abortion, people think they are my own personal views.'

I put down my sandwich and was speechless for a moment. Then I proceeded to tell her two things, with sufficient diplomacy so as to keep her interested in the topic: (1) Oprah Winfrey is not the place to look for unbiased political opinion ... or political opinion at all, and (2) the details about Obama's abortion views and policies, with particular emphasis on his lone negative vote on the BAIPA.

As far as I know, she has never questioned anything I have ever told her, but she questioned the accuracy of that assertion (that he had cast the lone vote in opposition to it).

So I sent her various links to support what I had said.

Needless to say, her support of Obama (she had strongly supported him in 2008) disappeared, simply as a result of that one issue. She was appalled.

Multiply her by millions of Christians, and non-Christians, who would rightfully turn away from him as a result of that single vote alone, and that man wouldn't have stood a chance of re-election. But, needless to say, only a small minority of Americans has been made aware of his Illinois senate vote.

I am not saying that people should vote on the basis of one issue, but I am saying that a man who would take a stand against preventing what Kermit Gosnell has done ... and who would proudly be the only person who did so ... does not deserve to hold any political office, let alone that of President of the United States.
