Control doesn't necessarily imply direction. You'd have to be in the inner circle to know precisely what they will attempt to accomplish. Anybody can pretend to know, and being right might allow one to dream that they actually do know, but things don't necessarily unfold as directed nor predicted.

And with any grand experiment, attempts to control eventually unravel somewhere. Noland suggests that the unraveling is happening in commodities, esp. gold, a byproduct of attempts to inflate the equities market.

A multi-trillion dollar effort to manipulate any market is going to produce profound dislocations and destruction, including, eventually, the very thing they attempt to boost (the actual economy).
