I beleive US is the only developed country w/ a pos birthrate. (African Americans / Hispanic carrying that load) It was hovering at 2.3 or so at the time I read the paper but that was a year+ ago. Europe, Japan and all other developed countries are well below 2.2 (min required) and are in, what Drucker named, Nationalized suicide. (Rome was suggested to fall victim to this also...) Interesting data point on the depression b/r.... I would guess when times are that bad, b/r's fall also.. Is there a sweet spot where a couple can afford a larger family? I'm sure there is.. Just not sure where that point is or how it would be achieved.
