Is defaut on debt and destruction of Money inflationary, or deflationary?

We're looking at tremendous forces of deflation as countries like Portugal increasingly look to default on their debt. It's what they need to do, as Iceland did..

And one day, it's quite possible the US will be forced to do the same thing..

It's difficult for me to adequately predict the impact such sovereign defaults will have on the Euro. But I suspect it's going to drive increasing amounts of capital into US markets, and/or the US Dollar.. Not saying it's justified, but I think it will happen..

So effectively vis-a-vis Gold, The USD just soared... If the US (and other) stock market tanks even more, expect the USD to rise even more..
