Hence your "LAN" will be the Internet.>> Clare, Even though I agree with most of what you are saing, the above statement does not sound right to me. The market for the Ascend/CISCO products are ISPs and super big corps, the market for LANs every single company big or small all over the world. The bandwidth achieved on LAN (1 gig) will not be matched ever(20 years at least) by the Internet. So Internet can not replace LAN.
