Not ony the cleverness of the Roman patriarchal authority to not fight them but join them(much later), Nietzsche had a very insightful epiphany about the earlier evolution. A very clever form of self protection of the Jews to position & plant this messiah story in the minds of the common gentiles of the Empire they had no hope of overcoming militarily. What better way to garner protection where any open rebellion brought down iron rule, to ultimately seed in the minds of your rulers populations that your salvation granted from this Son of God came from your tribe therfore an advantage ? The split between the Jew & Christian takes place over centuries really, first Chritsians were mostly Jews. This just fits the pattern of the clever human animal attempting to survive by telling a bigger whopper! ;0)

A Jewish rebel, a fellow chandala, but a divine One sent by God — or better, the embodiment of God himself — might be able to win over the allegiance of the unthinking and superstitious Gentile masses. It would be a kind of ‘charm offensive’ against Rome — to steal away their moral authority and place it, ultimately, in the hands of a Jew who would sooth their suffering, and ‘save’ them. “Salvation is of the Jews” (John 4:22), as Nietzsche is fond of reminding us. This sort of stealth insurrection would avoid the kind of direct confrontation that would get the rebels imprisoned or killed, and it would be done in the name of nominally higher values like faith, hope, and love.
