Police enjoy the distinct privilege of exposing themselves on a daily basis to elements of our society that we conveniently avoid with every ounce of common sense in our bodies. We expect police to deal with the nasty, insane, messed up people whom we conveniently right-off as the dregs of society. It must have some impact on them -- which is no excuse for bad behavior -- but it is a part of their daily reality and you might want to take that into account as you bash them.
