AAPL, large cap names, etc

I feel like my trading of large cap names is hit and miss, mostly miss to be honest. I have a few nice winners, but I doubt I have kept up with the S&P 500 with my large-cap picks. What insight do I have over thousands of other analysts and traders -- I am realizing not much.

Going forward, I am planning on doing 90% of my large cap exposure through an etf or index fund and focus on making money on small and microcaps through stock screens and fundamental analysis, plus making markets in preferreds and exchange-traded bonds. That is where I feel I have an edge.

Sure I may take a leap into a large-cap value name now and then, but it is with the stark realization that I am 50/50 at best on these things.

I sold a little KYCN today up 44%. Never pointed out the buy on the board, so no credit to take here. Just pointing out how a basic shotgun approach to these stock screens (I have been using Piotroski and AAII shadow portfolio) seems to be working well. I had used these as a mainstay of my portfolio and probably drifted a bit too far afield in recent years.

ACY, ADUS, CSS, EBF, SKYW, PFIN, TNRK are a few others I have bought on stock screens in case anyone owns or wants to compare notes. These are not buy recommendations, just sharing information.
