it's a killer for the small internet seller. he has to figure out all those taxes and keep track, also since he has sales (income) from a certain state he will have to file state income tax in each state, that will cost a fortune in money and time.

I wrote my [Republican] senator about it. His response?

"It is unfair for Arkansas businesses to have to compete with these Internet companies who don't have to charge sales taxes, so I'm going to support my Arkansas businesses (just not Arkansas Internet businesses)"

Never mind it is a tax increase the consumer will bear. Never mind that the states, combined will raise a minimal amount of money (since most such sales are already taxed) and almost nothing after the administrative costs combined with the added reporting burden for small Internet-based businesses.

I don't much care who runs against him next time. I'll vote against him.
