good news re erita on the results of her "international schools' assessment" administered earlier this year against over 33,000 students from 190 schools across 56 nations on scale developed for oecd programme for international student assessment (pisa) w/ average proficiency of 15-year-old students set at 500.

(i) mathematical literacy: for erita's grade (she is 8), the middle 60% ranks between 250-400, and erita is solving problems at 500, w/ oecd 15-year-olds averaging at 500, meaning ...

(i-a) uncertainty and data: locate statistical information presented in a variety of forms. understand basic statistical concepts. solve probability problems in familiar contexts.

(i-b) quantity: interprete simple tables to identify and extract relevant information. carry out basic arithmetic calculations. interpret and work w/ simple quantitative relationships.

(i-c) space & shape: solve problems involving a single mathematical representation where the mathematical content is direct and clearly stated

write a story w/ some developed detail in content and using a variety of sentence forms. spell correctly many words from a student-level vocabulary

write a personal opinion piece with a few supporting ideas using a developing range of sentence forms

(v) re jack, he eats a lot, sleeps plenty, balances well on his walking-bike, very social, plays well w/ other kids, plays ferociously but non-destructive of items not explicitly his, and is very out-going w/ all who comes in contact w/ him. goes around from table to table in restaurants and welcomed by whomever he 'bothers'. super at this stage of development.
