Everyone called them Dixiecrats in htose days, it was not a slur in those days. it was just what they were called. It distinguished them as southern dems.

The reason conservatives don't use the word dixiecrats is they like to forget they were conservative racists totally different from northern dems.

And the reason you would use the word Dixiecrat is because it explains they were all conservative Democrats from the south.

The thing that bound the dems in those days was unions, but while northern dems were liberal and not generally racist, southern dems were very conservative and hard core racists.

That is why. You never seem to know why?
