Irish and Italians once voted Democratic too. Dems have been a party dependent on urban ethnic political machines from the early 1800's on. No different today. Dems know that black and Hispanic successful integration into the mainstream will end the machine control over their voting bloc. That's one reason Dems force their kids into failing schools.
