remember when we used to be treated to stories from clappy.

here's his latest .....

Out of habit, I am usually up pretty early on the weekends. There are a few benefits of this. First, the house is amazingly quiet. I can actually hear the the motor of the refrigerator way over in the kitchen. Can also hear the birds chirping outside with all my windows shut. Now that is pretty quiet. No blaring TV's, explosions from computer games, no teasing, no dogs barking, no vacuum cleaners, just peace and quiet. I think you get the gist of what I am saying. However, as I go to walk the dogs, I realize outside the house is the complete opposite. The sun is up and there is so much activity. Birds everywhere, are chatting to each other in so many different languages. I can hear crows calling, Chickadees singing, Finches finching, and a woodpecker knocking away into the hollow of a tree. It is a sensory overload as I look out at the pond with whispers of vapor rising up off the surface of the water. The large blue heron keeps one eye on me and its other on what lurks along the shoreline as it patiently waits for its breakfast to be delivered. A lone goose flies overhead honking in search of its friends. Silly goose. They must be playing hide-n-seek with each other. "Where's my friends, where's my friends" it honks on and on.

We walk up the hill to see two rabbits eating the grass near the deck. So cute. They stay perfectly still like lawn statues when they see us. The only things I could see moving were their nostrils as the large eyeball locked in on our every move. They could not fool Riley the wonder-puppy. Those are no statues! She took off after them as they scurried for safety underneath the line of Norwegian spruce trees. Wonder-puppy proudly marched back to me when I called her to show me she did her job of keeping the evil bunnies at bey.

The bigger dog pulled on the leash as he was locked in on the scent of some deer that must have been by not too long ago. He wanted to go find them. I wasn't up for the task and coaxed him back to the house with sort of a tug-of-war grip on the leash.

Now with my cup of coffee I enjoy the few remaining minutes of quiet as I type this so I can remember it later. Counting my blessings with each keystroke.

Have a good morning y'all.
