Yes, the foundations and much of the main house was built by slave AND free African-Americans. Almost all of the rest was done by immigrants, who would be termed "illegal" in today's society. They had not yet started on a path to citizenship and did not have any legal status. As for all the rest of it...I could care less about "compassionate" this or "compassionate" that. And the color of their skin matters even less. I don't judge a person "by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Their actions and what comes out of their mouths matters to me. Take the idiot Representative from Georgia, Hank Johnson who wanted to know if Guam would tip over if we put too many marines on it. I could care less what color he is...that was just stupid, and someone like that is an embarrassment to have as a Representative of the US government. Just as embarrassing as Nancy Pelosi's statement when trying to shove Obamacare through that they had to "pass the bill to see what was in it." I mean, Good Lord. If these people are like this in real life with their personal affairs, they should own about half of the swampland in the Everglades! And you haven't felt it yet (or maybe your have), Obamacare is going to start costing us...you and me...a lot more money. Our taxes this year are going to go up by $2500 because of it. And if you are employed in a part-time job, you will see that your hours will be cut to less than 30. If they give you over 30 hours, they have to provide health insurance. The solution: Just cut your hours and not give you health care. And don't kid yourself that Obamacare was for the poor...they already have it in the form of Medicare/Medicaid. As far as the rest of the working public, nothing really will change, other than the fact you will have less money and less options. Democrats are already trying to stall the full implementation of Obamacare until after the 2014 elections, because they know that once it is fully implemented at the end of this year, the American public will experience it in full...and not like it. And I voted for Obama....twice! Color me stupid for doing it the second time.
I believe racism can go both ways....having experienced it myself while living in Detroit for several years. If you are white, you are automatically called a "hillbilly", "white trash" and many other nasty things...even if you have a college degree and are driving a BMW (which I had both). |
