Extreme drought occurs in Texas during more than 25% of years. Below are all the years since 1900 which experienced Palmer Drought Index extreme drought for at least one month during the year.
1910, 1911, 1917, 1918, 1925, 1934, 1935, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1963, 1964, 1967, 1971, 1974, 1978, 1981, 1989, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009. 2011

The Palmer Drought Index is how the Weather Service classified droughts. Now 1934 was a really bad drought year. Before the big increase in CO2 concentrations. Boy, we'd better not let CO2 get that low again.
