<<Well, in some ways Newt came closer than most Republicans, while being too conservative in a lot of ways. Rand Paul was close as well, but with a lot of Libertarian thrown in there. I define "TRUE Center" as one who is willing to take the best of all points, ignoring the party it came from, and apply it.>.

I think Bob makes a good point. I don't think there is a center. There is a fundamental difference between liberals and conservative's: liberals, live their lives, by and large, using science and reason, while conservative's live by myth (religion) and script. 51% of scientists call themselves liberals and 80% lean democratic while only 6% are Republican's.

Bob, a true conservative, is a traditionalist and very religious. While I think all cultures and societies are primitive and am an atheist.

There is a fight between these two groups for the soul of the nation. Liberals watch MSNBC and never watch FOX. Conservatives watch FOX and never watch MSNBC.

Newt gingrich is a Republican and a hard core right winger and a sociopath too boot, IMO. He impeached Clinton for an affiar while he was having one. Newt taught dirty politics to his minions.

Rand Paul, like his father, is truly nuts and both are racists. And both are in the Republican party which is where libertarians usually end up.
