As a matter of fact I Do know that the majority do NOT take government benefits. It is not in their culture to do so. Maybe you are talking about the other illegal aliens, the non-Mexican ones who make up almost 50% of the illegals in the country. I know for a fact that the majority of those who are from Mexico are raised to be too proud to accept a hand-out of any type. I know this from being there, from being married to one for years, and from my travels for the last 20+ years. Of course there are always a few bad apples, but the vast majority are not like that at all. Those from India, who have been raised in a Socialist system (yes, India is a Socialist system, and has had closer ties to the Soviet Bloc than they ever have had to the US-Proof is the fact that they are one of the few licensed to manufacture MiG fighters outside the Soviet Union) are rather quick to take advantage of them, as are many from South America and Asia, having also been raised in a Socialist leaning society. But Mexicans--no.
