Very few countries in Europe actually adopted austerity. The few that did where forced in to it by their circumstances, and the circumstances resulted in the shrinking economies as well.

An academic paper that found that a ratio of 90%-debt-to-GDP was a threshold above which countries experienced slow or no economic growth was found to contain an arithmetic calculation error.

True, and when that error is corrected they still have slower growth then countries with less debt.
