As the talk of decriminalization became more mainstream, the drug itself became more hardcore.
A couple of points, from personal experience and observation..
The above statement is true. Back in the 60's, almost all pot was imported from or through Mexico. It was mostly cheap and low potency, although professed "premium" brands like Acapulco Gold and Panama Red commanded higher prices. A kilo of cheap Mexican weed cost around $100 back then..
Comparing that to today's highest potency green bud is like the difference between Miller Lite and 190 proof Everclear. And I know for a fact that the guy's smoking experience is true. One hit of today's finest, for a non smoker, and after you get past the coughing phase, will put you in hallucinogenic stupidville for hours.
Regular users, however, can build up a huge tolerance to THC. I've known people who could smoke today's finest, in large quantities, and function almost normally. Almost like a maintenance dosage thing. So levels of impairment can vary radically, and coming up with DUI pot levels while driving will be much harder than for alcohol, for which legal impairment levels are arbitrary enough.
One last point.. I'm in favor of all drugs being decriminalized for adults. IMO, laws should be for those who cause harm to others. Laws against stupid personal choices are both a waste of taxpayer dollars and an infringement on freedom.. |
