I think there are times when government help is needed, but by and large you are right. As is, the government is way too large and too costly. Obama has 1700 people on staff at the White House alone...way to many! The Department of Education actually serves no purpose, as schools are funded and administrated at the local level. The Commerce Department also serves no function, other than leaking information to China through back-door hacks into their computer systems. A lot of fat could be cut out, making our government smaller, leaner and more effective, while at the same time reducing costs.
