My response to epicure on same subject:

It is not like that. They don't hate us as much as they don't understand us. What they do understand is that we hold a higher status in society. Professors hold a higher status than millionaires. They are jealous and defensive like all normal people are in their situation. And they cannot defend themselves at all.

They have no idea what we are about or what we know. I was one of them when I was young. I know how they feel as I felt that way. I hated the beatniks at UC Berkeley. But I also went to UC once and said to myself: :" here are 30,000 people and they are all smarter than I am. I believed that. And while it is probably still true-lol, I can at least carry a normal conversation with most of them.

I was so jealous and had so little confidence in myself. And on these threads to make matters worse they cannot defend themselves, so they resort to insults. Insults I pay no attention to at all. They are cornered and I prefer to give them a way out.

And I learned, starting as an adult, so why can't they learn? I could teach at a university now. But it was a long road.

All you are looking at is ignorance and not much of anything else. So as much as I detest their cruelty based on the ignorance, I also know what it is. I have no interest in just bashing them day in and day out, with an elite group of educated liberals.

I will always try to engage them and help them see what they need to learn. And I know the first step is to be non threatening. I accept I cannot do it here so I go elsewhere. I come here because you do have a bushel of liberals and I enjoy their company and learn from them.

If right wingers were not capable of learning then how did Demark come about?
