Lee, this is a point I've repeatedly tried to make. Full employment does not necessarily imply inflation. It does, however, imply increasing demand for goods and services and it also implies increased buying power and potentially increased savings and investment rates. I think that Greenspan has been fighting phantom inflation. In any event, the Fed does not control long-term interest rates directly. The control is indirect by controlling the money supply.
