While the statistics aren't all that great with our "top 10", I would say that we've done OK with our picks. 4 are solid winners ( up 18% to 32% ), 3 are losers ( down 17% to 31% ) and 3 are undecided ( down 1% to up 5% ).
Considering we were trying to find "value" in our group, I'd say that we've done OK but not great.
APA and SLW are directly affected by commodity prices, so it's no surprise that they're both down and make up 2 of our 3 losing positions. AAPL, as we all know, is trying to redefine itself after it's amazing growth explosion. While all are down, they offer our portfolio exposure to very different segments of the marketplace.
I would assume that if we are considering removing a stock or 2 from our list, we would start by evaluating the losers to determine if the long term fundamental thesis for each company, which we originally considered, has changed to the point where we need to look at alternatives.
After that, we should look at the three "undecided" stocks JOY, CMI, PH.
I would assume that the winners would be the least likely to be cut from the portfolio but I'm open to discussing any of them as well. |
