It could go lower before your thesis is correct. Thats the way I see it currently. Catching the knife has not worked with Au. It will turn and if you have 4 years you should be fine. It's how much pain can one absorb before AU turns up again. Once the trend changes the hedgies, and public will be back in mass, imo.
