The world still needs bureaucrats, ditch diggers and trash collectors -- and there is nothing wrong with that. Not everyone can solve 9th grade math (not algebra, mind you, but basic arithmetic) questions. I don't think it would be sensible to try to push someone like that through a math, science, or engineering curriculum.
