They we're "believers" in every sense of the word as any other, whether you believe in their thought processes or not, this is the way the human brain works.
Human beings are tribal in nature, its hardwired into our brains (social emotional imprinting,identification) & almost every consideration of yours is material , if you were honest, which we know you're not. One could say that the claim of a Nation of Islam is some kind of non material call too, its just instead of ruling one smaller territory as in tribal ages past, man invents religion & in this way he convinces himself grasping for larger & larger pieces that he can now rule & unite the world.
