"You don't think a guy who gets a PHD in physics, or chemistry or math could be an engineer?"

Sure - just like I think a PhD engineer could get a PhD in physics. I simply know that degrees are easier to come by the college of Arts and Sciences than Engineering. Again I ask - when is the last time you heard of and A&S student flunked out and found a home in the school of engineering?

"Bottom line, the smartest scientists in the country choose the Democratic party overwhelmingly."

I do not see anything in your posts that say the smartest scientists choose the Democratic party. I do believe the many "scientists" who cannot get a real job go to work for government or academia.

"And you cannot explain why!"

Sure I can - money.

BTW - the smartest go to work for productive enterprises and compete for a living. The others - well - government and academia provide a place to earn a living - and the need to advocate for more funding - ergo - they become Democrats. Follow the money Charles. BTW - did you SIL ever have a real job?
