no. the penguin is not speaking to me. i went to the grocery store to buy a couple ingredients for a pot of chilli. i had to pass the floral section to get to the checkout register and i saw this little guy: i named him after our friend koan and put him in my zen garden. it was pretty windy and cold here last night and i woke up to find little koanie screaming for help... "help! i've fallen, and i can't get up!" without even thinking about it, i picked him up and moved him to a more protected location over by the birdbath. koan: a paradox to be meditated upon that is used to train Zen students to abandon ultimate dependence on reason and to force them into gaining sudden intuitive enlightenment. eureka. it's working. i moved him intuitively. do you think i should have stood him back upright or was it best to leave him lying down so he can get some rest while he heals up? (there i go trying to reason again)
