That was done by a group that had support from a lot of "Right Wing" people. And the group is actually based in Washington State! While I agree that the "Conservative" idea is not in it's self racist, there are a lot of people who call themselves "Conservative Republicans" who are. I know this from experience, being married to a woman from Mexico. I was transferred to Oklahoma and spent a year there trying to get OUT of that "Conservative Bible Belt". We were pulled over many times for having a "tail light out". Never were there any problems with my tail lights - we were actually pulled over for my "Driving With Hispanic Wife". It was being used as an excuse for the policeman to check my wife's legal status "during a traffic stop", since she is obviously Hispanic...they would always ask her for papers first. Also, when people at work would find out my wife is from Mexico, I would get lectures on how "those people" were. These people giving me these lectures identified themselves as "conservative Republicans", went to church every week, most several times a week, volunteered for Missionary work...and yet this is how they really were. Profiling according to race exists. Harassing people (and their spouse) because of race exists. And I can tell you from experience that overwhelmingly those who identify themselves as "Conservative Republican" and "Tea Party" were the ones that harassed us.
